The Monkey Orchid

The Monkey Orchid can be found in the cloud forests of southeastern Ecuador at elevations of 1000 to 2000 meters .

Its scientific name is Dracula simia. The genus part of its name translates as ‘little dragon’ and refers to the two long spurs of the sepals, while the specific epithet rather obviously refers to its simianesque appearance.

While relatively rare, it has been cultivated. You can buy The Monkey Orchid and various other orchids for me here.
